Album Notes & Community Reviews

As one of the first extreme metal albums to prominently feature a female lead vocalist, Kari Ruesl氓tten's operatic delivery drastically altered the trajectory of the European doom and gothic metal scenes. The music offsets crushing, slow-motion riffs with lush acoustic passages and sorrowful atmospheres, highly influencing later bands like Nightwish and Within Temptation.
