Album Notes & Community Reviews

As the first proper studio full-length from Martin Phillipps' ever-rotating ensemble, 'Brave Words' serves as a cornerstone of the influential Dunedin Sound. Marred slightly by its notoriously murky initial mix, the album nevertheless presents a masterful blend of kinetic jangle pop and deeply poetic melancholy that defined the Flying Nun roster.
