Attempting to exert more creative control and distance themselves from their image as a purely studio-manufactured hit machine, the group wrote much of this heavily arranged album themselves. 'Feelings' expands their commercial folk-rock foundation with intricate vocal harmonies, sweeping strings, and subtle psychedelic flourishes. While not their most commercially successful outing, it represents their most earnest push toward artistic credibility.
