Album Notes & Community Reviews

Deconstructing the earnest reverence of the folk revival, Peter Stampfel and Steve Weber inject chaotic, proto-psychedelic humor into traditional Appalachian string band music. 'The Holy Modal Rounders 2' features frenetic fiddle playing, wildly off-kilter vocal deliveries, and bizarre lyrical improvisations. It stands as a brilliantly eccentric precursor to the broader freak-folk movement.
