An 18-year-old Paul Weller's songwriting captures adolescent frustration through jagged, melodic guitar riffs and observational lyrics, delivered with raw power by the tightly-wound trio of Weller, Bruce Foxton, and Rick Buckler. The production by Vic Coppersmith-Heaven and Chris Parry maintains a direct, high-energy feel that defines standout tracks like the title anthem and propulsive covers of 'Slow Down' and the 'Batman Theme'.
