Album Notes & Community Reviews

Compiled primarily from demo recordings meant to secure a major label contract, 'Blue Earth' presents The Jayhawks' glorious, harmony-driven country-rock in a remarkably pure state. Mark Olson and Gary Louris demonstrate their effortless vocal interplay over jangly acoustic guitars and mournful pedal steel, establishing a blueprint for the emerging alt-country movement. The record successfully caught the ear of Rick Rubin, launching their highly acclaimed 1990s run.
