The Welsh trio's debut album, 'The Big Roar', delivers an ambitious fusion of alternative rock, indie, and shoegaze, re-recording several tracks from their 'A Balloon Called Moaning' EP to explore a stated emotional conflict between manic optimism and depressive states. Produced by the band and mixed by Rich Costey, the record was noted for its immense, passionately performed sound defined by sweeping crescendos and walls of guitar. The album drew widespread praise for its epic scope and cathartic energy while also receiving some criticism for a sonic excess that occasionally blurred its pop sensibilities.
