Preceding their magnum opus, this album finds Phil Elverum heavily experimenting with lo-fi tape degradation, chaotic noise, and warm, summery psychedelic folk. It is an intensely bittersweet and naturalistic recording that constantly shifts between beautiful acoustic strumming and overwhelming distortion.
