Phil Elverum

Phil Elverum is an American singer, songwriter, and producer identified by his work under the monikers The Microphones and Mount Eerie. [1, 8] Based in Anacortes, Washington, his music is defined by its lo-fi production, use of analog recording equipment, and a distinct synthesis of ambient textures with sparse, deliberate instrumentation. [1, 2, 7, 16] Elverum’s lyrical focus recurrently explores themes of nature, memory, and mortality, most notably documenting profound grief and loss. [5, 8, 13] His diaristic, emotionally transparent songwriting and holistic, self-sufficient approach to creation have shaped a significant and influential presence within independent and experimental folk music.
