Album Notes & Community Reviews
The veteran indie-rock quintet drastically expands their sonic palette and collaborative circle for their expansive eighth studio album. Accompanied by a Mike Mills-directed short film, the record heavily features female vocalists鈥攊ncluding Sharon Van Etten, Gail Ann Dorsey, and Lisa Hannigan鈥攚ho frequently take the lead over Matt Berninger. The arrangements are lush, utilizing sweeping strings, choral bursts, and subtle electronic flourishes to explore themes of aging and domesticity.
