Album Notes & Community Reviews
Signaling a massive transitional phase for the German outfit, '12' finds The Notwist moving decisively away from their abrasive hardcore punk roots. The album introduces a highly atmospheric, deeply melancholic indie rock sound, heavily incorporating slowcore pacing and subtle electronic textures. This crucial stylistic pivot laid the direct groundwork for the celebrated, glitch-heavy direction they would master on subsequent releases.
