Solomon's Seal

Album Notes & Community Reviews

This exquisite final album by the original lineup of the pioneering folk-jazz quintet finds them returning to a largely acoustic, intimate sound following prior electric experiments. The interplay between John Renbourn and Bert Jansch's complex fingerpicking is immaculate, elegantly backing Jacqui McShee's interpretations of traditional ballads like 'The Snows'. Internal tensions led to their dissolution shortly after, closing a foundational chapter of the British folk revival.
