Moving beyond the scratchy DIY aesthetic of their debut, The Raincoats crafted a profoundly idiosyncratic, highly avant-garde masterpiece of experimental post-punk. 'Odyshape' incorporates exotic instrumentation like the balafon and kalimba, resulting in a deeply surreal, incredibly abstract exploration of tribal rhythms, dub echoes, and mysterious, uncommon time signatures.
