Biography
The Raincoats are a London post-punk band formed in 1977 by Ana da Silva (vocals, guitar) and Gina Birch (vocals, bass). Their self-titled debut (1979) for #Rough Trade Records#, made with Vicky Aspinall and Palmolive, became a touchstone for alternative and riot grrrl musicians. After 'Odyshape' (1981) and 'Moving' (1984) the band split, then re-formed in the 1990s, releasing 'Looking in the Shadows' (1996) and continuing to perform with Anne Wood on violin and Vice Cooler on drums.
