Produced by P-Funk mastermind George Clinton, 'Freaky Styley' finds the Red Hot Chili Peppers fully embracing their deep, groove-heavy funk roots. Flea's hyperactive slap-bass and Hillel Slovak's rhythmic guitar playing perfectly frame Anthony Kiedis's energetic, deeply vulgar, and heavily rapped vocal delivery. The album is a playful, highly sexualized, and delightfully chaotic hybrid of punk rock and Parliament-style funk.
