Album Notes & Community Reviews

Operating under his electronic solo moniker, Matmos's Drew Daniel delivers a wildly provocative, highly conceptual album composed entirely of classic black metal covers reinterpreted as queer, underground house music. 'Why Do the Heathen Rage?' completely subverts the grim, hyper-masculine aesthetics of extreme metal, transforming the genre's darkest anthems into remarkably vibrant, highly rhythmic, and intensely hedonistic dance tracks.
