Album Notes & Community Reviews

The Standells' 'Try It' captured the Los Angeles band moving toward a more polished yet still rebellious garage sound under producer Ed Cobb. The title track infamously sparked controversy and faced radio bans due to its suggestive lyrics, ultimately hindering the album's commercial performance. Despite the censorship, the LP features some of the group's tightest and most energetic rhythm and blues-inspired playing.
