Marking a massive transitional period for the veteran British rock outfit, this album is the first to be recorded without founding vocalist and guitarist Hugh Cornwell. 'Stranglers in the Night' introduces Paul Roberts to the lineup, resulting in a significantly more polished, radio-friendly alternative pop-rock sound. The project distances the band further from their gritty punk origins, leaning heavily into melodic, brass-accented arrangements.
