The Ventures on Stage

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Despite its title and pervasive crowd noise, this album is famously a studio creation overdubbed with artificial audience reactions to capitalize on the live album craze. Nevertheless, the record delivers highly aggressive, massively distorted renditions of their instrumental rock hits, predicting the heavy, fuzzed-out guitar sounds of the later 1960s. It stands as a vital, high-energy transition point for the surf-rock pioneers facing the onset of the British Invasion.
