Album Notes & Community Reviews
Prior to their association with the Sub Pop label, the Seattle ensemble debuted with a rich, expansive fusion of dusty folk rock and post-punk anxiety. Chris Eckman and Carla Torgerson's dual vocal harmonies provide a compelling anchor for the dark, psychedelic roots instrumentation. The album established their reputation for crafting literary, atmospheric Americana tinged with alternative rock grit.
