Album Notes & Community Reviews
Reuniting the core lineup founded by Henry Cow's Tim Hodgkinson, 'Rubber Cage' is an exceptionally complex, jittery masterpiece of British avant-rock. The album completely deconstructs post-punk aesthetics, relying on jarring time signature shifts, scraping dissonant guitars, and heavily mechanical industrial rhythms. It is a highly challenging, intellectually demanding record that anticipates the most angular extremes of 1990s math rock.
