Monk's Music

Album Notes & Community Reviews

A landmark album that brought together a multi-generational ensemble of jazz giants, including both Coleman Hawkins and John Coltrane on tenor saxophone. The rich, intricate arrangements for the four-horn frontline and the powerful performances, particularly the sparring between the two tenor legends, make this a quintessential document of Monk's compositional genius and a high-water mark of the hard bop era.
