Album Notes & Community Reviews
'Umbilical' presents a raw, compact, and aggressive turn for the band, largely trading their expansive, atmospheric doom inclinations for a more immediate sludge and hardcore-punk assault. The production is intentionally abrasive and visceral, mirroring the immediacy of a live performance with a sound that emphasizes crushing riffs and Bryan Funck鈥檚 searing, acidic vocals. The album's lyrical focus remains intensely self-critical and confrontational, delivering a punishing and articulate expression of misanthropy and anti-establishment rage.
