Album Notes & Community Reviews

Meg Remy's debut for the 4AD label dramatically elevates her lo-fi, tape-collage aesthetic into a sophisticated, highly cinematic homage to 1960s girl groups and vintage disco. Despite the deceptively glamorous, retro pop arrangements, the songwriting bristles with fierce feminist critique and grim character studies of domestic entrapment. The juxtaposition of bright melodies and harrowing narratives makes it a brilliantly subversive project.
