Godbluff

Godbluff cover art

Marking the band's 1975 reformation, 'Godbluff' is a self-produced work that introduced a tighter, more aggressive, and pared-down sound than the band's earlier recordings. Peter Hammill's compositions are driven by his dramatic vocal delivery and the prominent use of a Hohner Clavinet, set against a dynamic and often ferocious interplay between David Jackson's saxophones, Hugh Banton's organ, and Guy Evans's drumming. Consisting of four long-form tracks, the album balances stark, atmospheric passages with complex instrumental sections, cementing a darker and more confrontational direction for the group.
