Album Notes & Community Reviews

Fifty four tracks by forty three artists restore the first generation of Black recording stars, whose discs from 1891 to 1922 were long treated as novelties rather than documents. Extensive notes by Tim Brooks and David Giovannoni accompany the set, which won the Grammy Award for Best Historical Album.
