Biography

'Various Artists' is the collective credit used for compilations, soundtracks and tribute albums performed by multiple artists instead of one act. It is a filing convention rather than a band or performer: each track belongs to its own artist, while the album as a whole is grouped under this shared name. Browsing here is a way into label samplers, era-defining compilations and soundtrack albums, with every track leading back to the individual artists responsible.
