Album Notes & Community Reviews

Literally giving a name to the genre it spawned, Venom's second album is an atrociously produced, violently heavy, and undeniably evil watershed moment for extreme music. Emphasizing breakneck speed metal and overt, theatrical Satanism over musical proficiency, 'Black Metal' is a profoundly raw, incredibly aggressive blueprint for countless thrash and black metal acts.
