Album Notes & Community Reviews

Reinterpreting Jerry Goldsmith's Oscar-nominated film score, vibraphonist Walt Dickerson utilizes a chordless trio format to deliver a deeply atmospheric, highly abstract set of modal jazz. Accompanied only by bass and drums (featuring Sun Ra Arkestra alumnus Bob Cunningham), Dickerson's striking, rapid-fire mallet technique turns cinematic themes into complex, cerebral post-bop explorations. It is a haunting, masterful showcase of his under-recognized talent.
