Album Notes & Community Reviews

The debut album from Katie Crutchfield's Waxahatchee project, 'American Weekend' is a masterpiece of lo-fi intimacy and raw emotional honesty. Recorded in a single week in her family's Alabama home with just a guitar and a cassette recorder, the album is a stark and powerful collection of songs detailing a painful breakup. Its minimalist, unvarnished approach resonated deeply within the indie scene, establishing Crutchfield as a major songwriting talent.
