Album Notes & Community Reviews
Functioning as the penultimate studio album before the legendary fusion ensemble disbanded, this release showcases the final incarnation of the band guided by Joe Zawinul and Wayne Shorter. 'Sportin' Life' heavily leans into bright, synthesized jazz-pop and incorporates significant world music and tropical vocal influences. While occasionally criticized for its slick, mid-80s production polish, the record features an incredibly tight, funk-driven rhythm section.
