Weather Report

One of the preeminent and most influential bands of the jazz fusion era, Weather Report was founded by keyboardist Joe Zawinul and saxophonist Wayne Shorter, both alumni of Miles Davis's groundbreaking electric bands. Initially an exploratory, atmospheric group rooted in collective improvisation, the band evolved to incorporate elements of funk, R&B, and world music, creating a sound that was both commercially successful and critically acclaimed. The addition of virtuoso bassist Jaco Pastorius in the mid-70s marked a pivotal moment, leading to their most iconic and best-selling work. Throughout their career, Weather Report was defined by the brilliant compositional and improvisational interplay between Zawinul and Shorter, and a constantly evolving lineup of master musicians.
