Album Notes & Community Reviews

Moving away from the gritty outlaw country that defined his 70s peak, the legendary songwriter embraced lush, string-laden arrangements for this crossover smash. Anchored by his iconic, emotive rendition of the title track, the record successfully bridged the gap between traditional Nashville sensibilities and adult contemporary pop. It became a multi-platinum phenomenon, significantly expanding his audience worldwide.
