Album Notes & Community Reviews

Long before his reinvention as an outlaw country icon, 'Country Willie - His Own Songs' compiles some of Willie Nelson's finest early songwriting efforts within the confines of the slick Nashville Sound. The album features lush, string-heavy reinterpretations of standards he had written for others, including 'Crazy' and 'Night Life'. It showcases his remarkably nuanced, jazz-inflected phrasing within a heavily commercialized production framework.
