Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded significantly earlier during the wildly productive 'Red Headed Stranger' sessions but shelved due to label concerns, this unique LP finally saw release at the peak of the outlaw country movement. It features the songwriter leading a deeply spiritual, surprisingly rebellious collection of traditional hymns and gospel tunes. The title track explicitly links the non-conformity of his outlaw aesthetic with the radical nature of early Christianity.
