The first new release in six years from David Eugene Edwards's long-running alternative project continues its descent into incredibly heavy, distorted rock. Written heavily alongside guitarist Chuck French, the record leaves behind their acoustic gothic country origins for a punishing, industrial-tinged sound driven by massive distortion and apocalyptic lyrical imagery.
