Plays the Music of Twin Peaks
by Xiu Xiu
Originally commissioned for a David Lynch art exhibition, 'Plays the Music of Twin Peaks' is Xiu Xiu's interpretation of Angelo Badalamenti's iconic television soundtrack. The album channels the source material through the band's experimental vocabulary, blending industrial noise, harsh synthesizers, and Jamie Stewart's volatile vocals with the original's familiar jazz and dream-pop motifs. Produced by Jherek Bischoff and mixed by Greg Saunier, the recording translates the show's unsettling atmosphere by accentuating its latent violence and surrealism, while retaining the fragile beauty of compositions like 'Laura Palmer's Theme'.
