Biography
Xiu Xiu is an American experimental band formed in 2002 by Jamie Stewart. The group's sound is characterized by its raw, confrontational, and emotionally intense style, blending elements of post-punk, industrial noise, modern classical, and avant-garde pop. Their music often features programmed drums, synthesizers, and unconventional instrumentation like brass bells and gongs. Lyrically, Xiu Xiu explores harrowing themes of trauma, depression, violence, and sexuality with unflinching honesty. The band, with Stewart as the only constant member, has maintained a prolific output, known for albums like "Fabulous Muscles" and their reinterpretation of the music from *Twin Peaks*.
