Album Notes & Community Reviews
Demonstrating Yusef Lateef's growing interest in non-Western instrumentation, 'Into Something' subtly infuses traditional hard bop with broader cultural textures. Lateef seamlessly switches between tenor saxophone, flute, and oboe, backed by a tight rhythm section featuring Elvin Jones. The session acts as an early precursor to the more expansive global fusions he would later pioneer.
