Dunedin noise pop band the 3Ds formed in May 1988, taking their name from members Denise Roughan, David Saunders and Dominic Stones, with David Mitchell completing the classic line up in 1989. Their #Flying Nun Records# albums 'Hellzapoppin' and 'The Venus Trail' paired ferocious twin guitars with sweet harmonies, winning international attention and major support tours before the band split in 1997.
