Short-lived English supergroup formed in London in 1976 by Phil Manzanera and Brian Eno with Bill MacCormick, Francis Monkman, Simon Phillips and Lloyd Watson. Named after a line in Eno's 'The True Wheel', 801 played three concerts, the last recorded as '801 Live' (1976). A revised Phil Manzanera/801 line-up followed with the studio album 'Listen Now' (1977), after which the project closed, its members returning to *Roxy Music*, solo work and session careers.
