Biography
A Silver Mt. Zion is a Canadian post-rock band formed in Montreal in 1999 as a side project of *Godspeed You! Black Emperor* members Efrim Menuck, Sophie Trudeau and Thierry Amar. Beginning with the largely instrumental debut 'He Has Left Us Alone but Shafts of Light Sometimes Grace the Corner of Our Rooms...' on #Constellation#, the group expanded into an orchestra-sized ensemble, adding vocals, strings and drums. Their music pairs long, mournful structures with politically charged lyrics, and later albums such as 'Horses in the Sky' and '13 Blues for Thirteen Moons' remain central documents of the Montreal post-rock scene.
