Biography
Acid Bath was an American sludge metal band from Houma, Louisiana, active from 1991 to 1997 and reunited in 2024. Fronted by vocalist Dax Riggs, with guitarists Sammy Duet and Mike Sanchez, bassist Audie Pitre and drummer Jimmy Kyle, the band built its sound on doom metal foundations mixed with hardcore punk, death metal, blues, grunge and Southern rock. Signed to the independent Rotten Records, they released two albums, 'When the Kite String Pops' (1994) and 'Paegan Terrorism Tactics' (1996), both now regarded as landmarks of sludge metal. The band dissolved after Pitre was killed in a traffic collision in January 1997. Acid Bath returned to the stage in April 2025, playing their first show since 1997 in New Orleans.
