Biography
Ariel Kalma was a French composer, born Ariel Kalmanowicz in Paris, whose saxophone, flute and tape-loop drones of the 1970s, including 'Le Temps des Moissons' (1975) and 'Osmose' (1978), prefigured ambient and new age music. He worked at Pierre Henry's INA-GRM studio after a formative trip to India in 1974, and self-released dozens of albums over five decades. The compilation 'An Evolutionary Music' (2014) on #RVNG Intl.# revived his early work; he died in June 2025, aged 78.
