Biography

Rio de Janeiro-born composer and arranger whose only early album, 'Arthur Verocai' (1972) on #Continental#, blended samba, soul and orchestral jazz into a record later worshipped by collectors and sampled across hip-hop. Verocai arranged for *Gal Costa*, *Jorge Ben* and *Ivan Lins* before decades in advertising; rediscovery brought comeback albums 'Encore' (2007) and 'No V么o do Urubu' (2016) and orchestral performances of the 1972 album.
