Biography
Birmingham post-punk band Au Pairs, formed in 1978 around singer and guitarist Lesley Woods, paired funk driven rhythms with unsparing songs about sexual politics. Their debut 'Playing With a Different Sex' (1981) on #Human Records# is a recognised classic of the era, followed by the more soul inflected 'Sense and Sensuality' (1982). The original quartet split in 1983, and Woods revived the name with a new line-up in 2025.
