Biography
Aube was the solo project of Akifumi Nakajima (1959-2013), a Kyoto industrial designer and one of the central figures of Japanese noise music. From 1991 he released a vast body of work, each piece constructed from one manipulated source sound, from water and lamps to body sounds and oscillators, moving over time from harsh noise toward ambient textures. He ran the #G.R.O.S.S.# tape label and described his recordings as sound designs rather than music.
