Biography
Betty Davis (1944–2022) was an American funk singer and songwriter whose three 1970s albums, 'Betty Davis', 'They Say I'm Different' and 'Nasty Gal', set a standard for raw, self-directed funk that the industry of the time could not contain. Formerly married to *Miles Davis*, whom she turned on to rock and funk, she wrote for *The Chambers Brothers* before fronting her own bands. Rediscovered by crate-diggers, her work is now recognised as foundational.
