Black Francis

Black Francis

Black Francis is the stage name of Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV, an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist celebrated as the frontman for the influential alternative rock band Pixies. His songwriting is known for its cryptic lyrics, often exploring surrealism, biblical violence, and science fiction, while his vocal delivery ranges from melodic to a signature screaming style. After Pixies disbanded in 1993, he adopted the moniker Frank Black, releasing numerous solo albums and forming the band Frank Black and the Catholics. He reunited with Pixies in 2004 and has since continued to tour and record with them, re-adopting the Black Francis name for his solo work.
