Butch Warren

Edward 'Butch' Warren was the de facto house bassist for Blue Note Records during its golden era in the early 1960s. His solid, dependable, and deeply swinging bass lines provided the foundation for a staggering number of classic albums by artists like Herbie Hancock ('Takin' Off'), Dexter Gordon ('Go!'), Jackie McLean ('One Step Beyond'), and Kenny Dorham ('Una Mas'). Though his career was cut short by personal struggles, his contribution to the hard bop lexicon is immense.
